Pop YS Live (November 2024) | Science of Reading: What it is and How Librarians Can Use it to Help Young Children (Live Webinar)

Nov 13, 2024, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

The Science of Reading can mean many things, but at its core, it refers to a body of evidence that suggests effective and timely ways to improve the reading development of school-aged children. This presentation (presented by the Iowa Reading Research Center) will cover important elements of the Science of Reading, including defining key components of reading development, reading instruction, and ways librarians can structure library activities (e.g., interactive story reading) to promote literacy development. Pop YS Live is a regular webinar series from the State Library which highlights trends and best practices in services and programming for those working in Youth Services librarianship around the state.
