FAQs

How will I view CE courses during the scheduled downtime?

Continuing Education Courses scheduled from August 23 through the end of September will be pre-recorded by the CE Team and made available to registrants. We will be in touch directly with those registered for those events. The recordings will also be available in Workday Learning when it launches.

What if I’m registered for an Endorsement Program Discussion Sections during that time frame?

The Endorsement Program Discussion Sections on August 20, September 5, and September 18 will take place as normal; the CE Team will be in touch with the Zoom link and reminders.

What if I want to start a new Endorsement?

You may apply for a new endorsement, but you won’t have access to the coursework until Workday Learning launches.

What if I take a course for external CE Credit?

You can continue to take external CE Courses, and let us know about the hours, but the credits won’t be applied to your account until after Workday Learning launches.

Can I still register for the Learning Circuit?

Learning Circuit registration is open! It is being run through a different system.

When will Workday Learning launch?

We have some automated and manual data migration to do, but we anticipate that Workday Learning will launch in October.

Why is the State Library making this change?

A number of departments of the State of Iowa used Learnsoft (the system behind IA Learns). The State of Iowa determined the contract for Learnsoft would not be renewed, and recommended state agencies using Learnsoft switch to the new platform that is tied to Workday, the current state government system for human resources management.

What is the new system called?

The new learning management system is called Workday Learning. Because the platform is shared with a number of state agencies and customization is limited, the IA Learns brand will be retired.

How will I create an account in Workday Learning?

If you currently have an IA Learns account, an account will be created for you in the new system. Instructions on how to log in to the new system will be sent in August.

What can I expect to see when I first log in?

The State Library’s webinar archive catalog will be loaded into the new system, as will some historical user data (such as course completions). Your upcoming enrollments for live classes will also be waiting for you.

What will happen to the progress towards my Endorsement or renewal?

In the month following launch, you can expect to see more robust user data added, including endorsement data and enrollments in webinar archive courses.

What are the main differences between the systems?

While all of the functionality remains the same, the look and feel of Workday is different. We think you’ll appreciate it offers a much cleaner look, and an easier user experience.

What support and help will be available from the State Library?

We are in the process of updating all of our help documentation to reflect the new platform and will aim to have written and video-based support materials available as close to the launch date as possible.
