Join the State Library of Iowa, the Iowa Library Association, and the Iowa Association of School Librarians for an evening of educational webinars related to Intellectual Freedom.
Intellectual Freedom for Iowa’s Librarians and Boards: Lessons Learned, Legislative Updates, and Your Role will take place on Wednesday, March 9 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Read the session descriptions below and register for each portion of the seminar you would like to attend.
Each session will have a unique Zoom link to help keep our event secure. You may register for one or more sessions. If a group is viewing the seminar together, only one person from the group needs to register for the session(s) the group plans to watch. If viewing individually, each person should register. Please do not forward the links you receive, they are unique.
Intellectual Freedom for Iowa’s Librarians and Boards: Lessons Learned, Legislative Updates, and Your Role

Panel Discussions | 6:00 - 6:55 p.m.
We’ll start with panel discussions from librarians (school and public) who have gone through challenges in their libraries. Each will share what they learned, what resources they found helpful, and what they might have done differently in hindsight. The panel discussions will not be recorded.

Legislative Update | 7:00 - 7:30 p.m.
Next, we will hear from ILA Lobbyists Craig Patterson and Amy Campbell about what activity they are seeing in the legislative session related to these issues. State Librarian Michael Scott will also share an update from the State Library. This session will be recorded.

Note on Board Training: A board training session was initially planned for this event as well; however, it will be postponed until after the Legislative session closes and more information is available on any new laws or changes to current laws related to school and public libraries.
