Changes to the Iowa Center for the Book Program

Jun 24, 2022

ICB logo square.jpgThe Iowa Center for the Book, a program of the State Library, will suspend operations as of July 1, 2022. The program began in 2002 as a Library of Congress Center for the Book affiliate to stimulate public interest in books, literacy, and libraries.

Over the past few years, declining support of programming from federal sources and a need for greater staff resources has made it challenging to maintain the program at a level for success and growth.

All Iowa Reads, the most popular program from the Iowa Center for the Book, will continue to be offered by the State Library. All Iowa Reads is an independent program that encourages Iowa kids, teens, and adults to read and discuss a selected title within a calendar year. More about All Iowa Reads

The Iowa Center for the Book website will be decommissioned June 30 and the dedicated email address and social media accounts will be phased out over the next few months.

The State Library plans to explore other opportunities to promote and support literacy efforts throughout the state.
