Registration Now Open for Pop YS Con, a Conference for Youth Services Librarians April 8-9 in Ames

Pop YS Con Logo_sq.pngRegistration is now open for Pop YS Con, the State Library’s conference for librarians who work with children and teens. The conference will be held April 8-9, 2024 at the Gateway Hotel and Conference Center in Ames, IA.

The conference will feature two days of award-winning keynote speakers, breakout sessions from in-practice librarians, a chance to network with librarians from across Iowa and meet exhibitors that support library work, all while earning Continuing Education credit. For 2024, the conference will feature an expanded exhibitor area for attendees.

Registration Information: Librarians can register to attend both conference days or a single day. Online payments are accepted, or attendees can mail in a check along with a copy of the completed registration form. (Note: if you've submitted a session proposal, please wait until you hear back from the Pop YS Con team before registering.)

  • Two-day cost: $175
  • Single day cost: $125

Hotel Reservations: The Gateway Hotel and Conference Center has reserved a block of rooms at the conference rate of $114.

The Pop YS Planning team is pleased to announce the 2024 conference keynotes:

  • Monday, April 8 Morning Keynote: Charity Nebbe, host of the Talk of Iowa program on Iowa Public Radio.
  • Monday, April 8 Lunch Keynote: Tasha Squires, middle school teacher librarian and author.
  • Tuesday, April 9 Morning Keynote: Graphic novel panel featuring authors Jason Platt and Drew Brockington.
  • Tuesday, April 9 Lunch Keynote: Maya Payne Smart, author of the book Reading for Our Lives: A Literacy Action Plan from Birth to Six.
