Card Benefits

Use your card to check out materials from the State Library collection and access certain online resources provided by the State Library. View State Library Policies & Fees

The State Library encourages Iowans to use their local public library as their "home" library. Note: State Library Cards do not grant access to ebooks and audiobooks via Bridges on the Libby app. Contact your local public library to find out how to access Bridges or the library's digital collection.

Apply for a State Library Card

Complete the form linked below and click "Submit." State Library staff will process your application and send an email with your barcode number, username and password. If you do not receive an email, check your spam folder or contact Information.Services@iowa.gov. A paper card will also be mailed to the address you provided.
