Director Roundtables 2026: Celebrating Libraries as the Heart of your Community

We believe libraries are “Worth Celebrating” which just happens to be our continuing education theme this year. With that focus, we’ll explore some of the many ways Iowa’s libraries have been and continue to be celebrated as the hearts of their communities. Our discussion topics include:

  • Celebrating History: Libraries supporting exploration and learning over many years
  • Celebrating Change: Libraries evolving from knowledge repositories to community hubs
  • Celebrating the Future: Libraries blazing a trail of innovation and community engagement

Join your fellow library directors to share insights, experiences, and success stories about how you celebrate the library in your community. In addition to these discussions, the Roundtables allow time for open-ended conversation on topics of interest to attendees.

About Director Roundtables

A longtime staple in the Continuing Education calendar, Director Roundtables are typically held in the spring of each year. Throughout each district, directors have a chance to learn from their district consultant, network with their peers, and apply new learning in their library. This event is another way we “dig deep” into the annual CE theme!

Roundtables are designed in a 3-hour format, with the first portion being a guided discussion about the Continuing Education theme for the year. The last hour is typically open-ended discussion.
