ILOC started as a virtual conference in 2008 as a way for Iowa librarians to stay connected during the winter months when travel gets difficult. Initially designed for small libraries, today institutions of all sizes can find something of value on the program.
Held each January, ILOC is a free all day virtual conference for Iowa librarians and board members. ILOC features keynote speakers, breakout sessions, and a special evening session for library board members, all geared towards an overall theme.
Join Us for ILOC 2026!
The 2026 Iowa Libraries Online Conference will take place on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. with the theme of Worth Celebrating!, dedicated to celebrating the many ways libraries and their staff enrich communities.
In our breakout sessions, we'll explore topics such as participating in community-wide celebrations like America 250 and RAGBRAI, observing library anniversaries and milestones, and creatively showcasing library resources and spaces. We'll also explore strategies for recognizing the dedication of staff, boards, and volunteers, and fostering partnerships. ILOC 2026 is your opportunity to connect with peers, share successes, and discover new ways to make every aspect of your library's journey truly Worth Celebrating!
