Guidelines for CE
For an activity to count for CE credit, it must:
- Be planned, coordinated, and officially run
- Be checked to make sure it meets clear learning goals
- Be designed for one of these purposes:
- Helping librarians stay updated on new ideas and changes in the field
- Refreshing basic library skills
- Improving job skills
- Leading to specialization in a new area of librarianship
General guidelines for CE credit (see below for information on taking an academic course for credit):
- 30 minutes of instruction = 0.5 contact hour
- 50 minutes of instruction = 1 contact hour
- 1 Continuing Education Unit (CEU) = 10 contact hours
- Roundtable/networking sessions = half-time credit (i.e. 1 hour of credit for a 2-hour roundtable)
