The Carlisle Public Library is seeking a fun and energetic Youth Services Librarian (full-time). The ideal candidate will be passionate about literacy and youth programming, enjoy working with children (birth to 18), and bring creativity and flexibility to the position. A high school diploma is required (Bachelor’s preferred) plus two years’ experience with children and teens.
Carlisle is just 10 miles SE of Des Moines with a small-town feel (pop. 4,300). Our brand new 10,000 sq. ft library building will be complete this fall!
Job Functions:
1. Plan and implement weekly story times in the library and daycares within the community.
2. Plan and implement a variety of children, tween and teen programs throughout the year, including the Summer Reading Program.
3. Prepare displays and promotional materials for youth programs.
4. Work with the Director to select and maintain library collections for youth.
5. Help develop and maintain an inviting and functional youth library area.
6. Represent the library at various community events.
Rate of Pay: $18.00-$19.00/hour
Schedule includes one evening a week and rotating Saturdays.
