The State Library is offering training for library staff to learn more about website accessibility. Watch recorded webinars from the State Library and other external training providers. You can also join live website worktimes with State Library staff for demonstrations on PLOW websites and the chance to ask questions and discuss your progress with fellow librarians.

This session includes a brief overview of the relevant laws, rules, and guidelines that impact library website accessibility (ADA Title II, DOJ rule, WCAG 2.1). It also explains how to use the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines to ensure an accessible web presence. The second part of the presentation focuses on the broad goals of the WCAG guidelines (that content be Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, and Robust) and suggests five simple strategies to begin implementing these goals for all users. Includes recommended resources for additional learning and an overview of PDF accessibility.

These sessions are intended to support libraries using a PLOW website on the Concrete5 platform. Each will focus on a different topic related to website accessibility. We'll give a brief overview of the topic, demonstrate how to complete that task in Concrete5, and have time for your questions! The Worktimes are not being recorded or offered for CE Credit. Attend any or all sessions that work for your schedule:
- April 28, 10:00 a.m.: Text (fonts, sizes, images of text)
- May 19, 10:00 a.m.: Color (contrast and dependence)
- June 9, 10:00 a.m.: Headings and document structure
- June 30, 10:00 a.m.: Hyperlinks
- July 21, 10:00 a.m.: Alternative text
When you register, Workday will send you a calendar invitation for each week, but you are not required to attend each session.
