Boone, IA – Ericson Public Library, Librarian
The Ericson Public Library has an opening for an enthusiastic and dedicated Librarian. Successful applicant will assess, plan and conduct a variety of programming; assist in planning and promoting special events; assist and work collaboratively within a team environment; develop community-wide collaborations and work on outreach efforts while promoting community awareness of library services; assist patrons with technical questions and guidance; assist with circulation and reference duties.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Initiate, plan, and conduct a variety of programs, services, and activities to encourage the use of the library
• Assist library patrons with using resources and services at the Library while maintaining a high level of customer service.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of library science principles and practices.
• Answer ready reference and reader’s advisory questions, assist patrons with computer services, including public access computers, online catalog terminals, fax and copy machines, printing, e-reader devices and smart phone and tablet app navigation.
• Assist with collection maintenance by shelving, weeding, inventorying, and recommending items for additional or withdrawal and processing periodicals.
• Assist with the creation on marketing materials.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree. Major in education or library science preferred. Minimum one year of professional experience in a library setting, with supervisory and administrative experience preferred. Experience with programming given preference. A valid Iowa driver’s license, required. A valid driver’s license from any state may be utilized upon application, with the ability to obtain the State of Iowa driver’s license within 30 days from day of appointment.
