This workshop is a six-hour, in-person professional development session based on New Jersey’s framework for student information literacy learning standards for K-12. Unique to NJ yet applicable in any other state or setting, the approach is comprehensive (all types of literacy), content agnostic (can be applied over any subject area), and skill-based (focus is on doing). In this session, we will present information on the four pillars:

  • Information Need
  • Information Identification and Evaluation
  • Information Use
  • Information Creation and Distribution

We’ll also guide you through a set of interactive activities to practice your skills and reflect on your learning.

This workshop will be presented by Jen Nelson (New Jersey State Library) and Linda Braun (LEO Group), this session is an outgrowth of a larger Teaching Information Literacy IMLS National Leadership Grant that began in 2023.
