The Milford Memorial Library has an immediate opening for a Children’s Librarian. This is a part-time position (approximately 25 hrs./week, includes accrued time off and IPERS) that also has the possibility of being a full-time position (approximately 40 hrs./week) with benefits. Successful applicants will have the ability to maintain working knowledge of library trends through continuing education and involvement in library operations; plan, arrange, and perform children’s programming; be able to work with children of all abilities, fostering an inclusive environment; serve as a specialist in our children’s collection, and assists patrons in its use; work well with others and the public; share in the duties of Library Assistants.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Ability to work all hours of library operation, including evenings and weekends
- Effectively communicate orally and in writing
- Provide quality customer service for library patrons of all ages
- Work well with children
- Be team player with strong communication and organizational skills
- Experience with computer systems (word processing, databases, spreadsheets, internet)
- Ability to use computer, copy machine, fax, and other office equipment or be willing to learn.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with children’s programming
- Previous experience working in a school or public library setting
- Familiarity with books and other library resources.
Starting hourly range is $16.41 - $18.04 dependent on qualifications.
